Thelma J. Sallie, 89, of Carlisle,
died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 14, 1924, in New Paris,
PA, a daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian (Rouzer) Mitchell. Thelma graduated from Jamestown
High School in Jamestown, NY. She owned and operated “Thelma’s Restaurant” in Orchard
Park, NY for 15 years. She is survived by one daughter, L. Patricia (Roger) Fisher
of Alden, NY, two sons; Louis R. (Susan) Sallie of Carlisle and Michael R. (Peggy) Sallie of Orlando, FL, seven grandchildren;
Shane, Kimberly and Greg Sallie, Kevin and Roger Fisher, Brenda Paolucci and Christine Demmitt and 11 great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by her companion of 40 years, Bertrand Cornwell, who died in 2006. Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle,
with Rev. Walt Frankenberry officiating. A viewing will be on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services
at the Henry Chapel. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to Friends of Agriculture Foundation at PA Farm Bureau, 510 S. 31st St., Camp Hill, PA 17001.
