Joseph
A. Shamro, 82, of Carlisle, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at his home. He was born
Dec. 22, 1930, in Clinton, and was a son of the late Jacob and Lucy (Kepic) Shamro.
Joe graduated from Forest City High School and was
a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Joe retired as a Sergeant with the PA State Police, Troop H, after
37 years of service. He was a member of Carlisle V.F.W. Post 477 and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Joe was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed woodworking, painting, playing cards and visiting Hollywood Casino.
He is survived
by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Betty C. (Johns) Shamro, his loving daughter, Lisa K. Shamro of Harrisburg, sister-in-law
and brother-in-law, Nancy and Pete Clyde of Incline Village, NV and several nieces and nephews. Joe was
preceded in death by one son, Joseph W. Shamro, who died June 14, 2007.
A private graveside service will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, with Rev.
Mira Hewlett officiating. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family kindly requests a good deed or act of kindness be given in
Joe’s memory.
