Jean E. Hockenberry, 82, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mabel M. (Lutz) Howard, and was the
widow of John C. Hockenberry, who died Sept. 30, 2007.
Jean had worked for the former C. H. Masland & Sons, G. S. Electric Co., Reeves-Hoffman
Co. and Troy Laundry Co., all of Carlisle. Jean enjoyed watching wildlife. She is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Ann (and her husband,
Richard) Pugh of Harrisburg, three sisters; Pauline Shenk of Boiling Springs, Joyce Paulus of Carlisle and Gloria Dove of
Dillsburg, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded
in death by one brother, George Howard and one sister, Betty Slagle. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 10:00 AM in the Cumberland Valley Memorial
Gardens, 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, with Chaplain Bradley V. Moore officiating. There will be no viewing
or visitation. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
