SFC (Ret) Herbert G. Tritt, PA Army National Guard, age 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  He was born on Monday, October 27, 1924, in Carlisle, a son of the late Clarence M. and Ruth Bell (Colvin) Tritt.

Herbert was a US Army veteran of WWII and retired after 27 years of service as a Sergeant First Class with the PA Army National Guard.  He earned his high school diploma from Carlisle High School in 1949, after serving in the US Army and attended Temple University for one year.  Herb also retired from AMP, Inc. after 26 years of service.  He worked for the former Federal Equipment Co., Carlisle and worked in the home construction industry for many years.  Herb was also a handyman.  He attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle and was a member of AARP and the Gobin Guards.  Herb enjoyed traveling, doing puzzles and was a longtime Carlisle High School Band Booster and a former little league coach with the Mt. Holly Springs Little League.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Charlotte E. (Barrick) Tritt of Carlisle, three sons; Ralph E. (and his wife, Suellen) Tritt of Atlanta, GA, Bruce G. (and his wife, Lynda) Tritt of Gardners and Herbert G., II (and his wife, Christine) Tritt of Barnegat, NJ, one brother, Richardson C. Tritt of Heron, DE, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Herb was predeceased by brothers; Junie, William and Edwin Tritt.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  Rev. Charles A. Brophy will officiate.  Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle.

I'm honored to have known such a wonderful man! Herb was such a soft spoken, patient and kind soul. My thoughts and prayers are with the Tritt family.
