Mark L. Keener, 63, of Carlisle and formerly of Huntington, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home. He was born on Sunday, May 8, 1949, in Freeport, NY, a son of the late Charles H. Keener, Sr. and Aline M. (Jockers) Keener.

Mark graduated in 1967 from Huntington High School and retired after many years of service as a police officer with the Nassau County Police Department, Long Island.

Mark is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Christine (Bayley) Keener, two brothers; Charles "Skip" Keener of Beverly Hills, FL and Frank E. Keener of Newville and eight nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. A prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial will be private.

My condolences to anyone and everyone who knew and loved this guy. We became friends while I was working at Farwell's Gun Shop and he hung out behind the counter and would talk for hours. Mark was the most careing and giving guy I have ever met. He will be sadly missed.

I met Mark at Pat Cassidy's and enjoyed talking to him about his police service and our mutual collecting hobby. I always looked forward to seeing him. I offer my sympathy and hope that your memories of him make you smile.

I went to HUNTINGTON HIGH (graduated in 1967) SCHOOL with Mark...we were in some of the same classes together...
