
Dorothy K. Bender, 89, of Carlisle, passed
away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Friday, March 9, 1923, in Hollidaysburg,
the daughter of the late William E. and Mary P. (Turner) Bice. She was the widow of Francis X. Bender, Jr., who died Aug.
3, 1990 and who was one of the founders of the former B - H Agency, Carlisle. Dorothy graduated in 1941 from Hollidaysburg High School. She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. In her younger years,
Dorothy was a member of several Carlisle community organizations and was active in her church. She and her late husband enjoyed
traveling worldwide in their "Airstream" travel trailer. Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her
family and friends. She is survived
by three daughters; Joyce Ann (and her husband, Bert) Pache of Evergreen, CO, Charlotte K. (and her husband, Walter "Biff")
Bond with whom Dorothy lived and Mary E. (and her husband, Jim) Weaver of Concord, NC, six grandchildren; Adam Pache, Cara
(and her husband, Richard) Haberacker, Walter (and his wife, Maryalice) Bond, Joshua (and his wife, Samantha) Weaver, Abraham
(and his wife, Stephanie) Weaver and Zachary Weaver, a brother-in-law, Robert P. Bender of Hollidaysburg, a sister-in-law,
Nancy R. Blake of Hollidaysburg, 13 great-grandchildren and Dorothy’s lifelong friend, Jean Mattesky of Carlisle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23, 2013,
at 12:30 p.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial
will follow in St. Patrick’s New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until
time of service at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions
may be made to St. Patrick's Third Century Fund, c/o St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.

She will be greatly missed. I
have so many fond memories of special times we spent together at the house and at Raystown Lake. Uncle Pooney and Aunt Dot
always loved to hop in the car and stop by for a visit. I especially enjoyed these visits when I was out of college and on
my own.
