
Julie A. Kough, 68, of Newville, died on
Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, August 2, 1944, in Carlisle, a daughter of
the late James and Hazel M. (Highlands) Group. Julie was a 1962 graduate of Carlisle High School. She retired from Giant Food and Nell’s
Shurfine Markets of Carlisle, where she worked in the bakery and was a cake decorator. Julie formerly attended Centerville
Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Penn Twp. Fire Co. and the Carlisle Eagles Ladies Auxiliaries. Julie enjoyed camping,
flower gardening and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Robert W. Kough, Jr., five
sons; T. Greg Thorson and his wife, Cheryl of Carlisle, Van E. Thorson and his wife, Kristen of Carlisle, Richard D. Thorson
and his wife, Mindy of Newville, Robert J. Thorson and his wife, Michelle of Carlisle and Stephen K. Kough of Dillsburg, 12
grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Julie was preceded in death by brothers; Frank, Jack
and Rodney Group and sisters; Lois VanDerhoven, Patricia Cox and Mary Knizner. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in
the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jean Kuebler officiating. Burial will be in Westminster
Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to American Cancer Society - Capital Area, Unit 2, Lemoyne Dr., Ste. 101, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
