
Mary Jane (Chatterton) Vinette, 88, of
Boiling Springs, died Sunday, December 2, 2012. She was born July 24, 1924, in Gloversville, NY, a daughter of the late John
D. and Mary K. (Reilly) Chatterton and was the widow of COL (Ret) William Louis Vinette, who died April 10, 2010. She grew up in Syracuse, NY and was a graduate
of St. Patrick's High School. She worked as an accountant at Syracuse China Factory before her marriage. She was married
to her devoted husband William for 63 years. During Bill's 30 years in the Army, Jane was the ultimate military spouse,
raising 5 children during his deployments in WWII, Korea, the Dominican Republic and Viet Nam. She served as the President
of the Officer's Wives Club in Heidelberg, Germany, held office in PTA's at their various duty stations around the
country and volunteered in the offices of the churches the family attended. She worked as a volunteer at the Carlisle Barracks
Thrift Shop from 1977 to 2002. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Jane was loved, comforted, and cared for at her home, where she lived with her
youngest son, Tom and granddaughter, Elizabeth. Many kind hearted and sincere souls contributed greatly to her spirits in
the last years of her life, giving a gift of love and affection no one should be without. Jane is survived two daughters; Patricia Vinette Veneziani of Peachtree City,
GA and Mary Jane Vinette of Golden, CO, three sons; Michael J. Vinette and wife, Veronique of Atlanta, GA, William L. Vinette,
Jr. and wife, Kathleen of Strasburg and SFC (Ret) Thomas R. Vinette, U.S. Army of Boiling Springs, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by sisters; Arlene and Eleanor. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012, from 6 - 8:00 p.m. with
a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, with Rev. Dwight D. Schlaline
officiating. There will also be a viewing on Friday at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of the mass. Burial will be at
St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152
E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.

the Thrift Shop. Although we lost touch I still remember her with fondness. She was a great gal and a dear friend. She was
