John Michael Hailey, 64, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at his home. He was born on Monday, November 1, 1948, in Massies Mill, VA, a son of the late John L. and Amy (Hughes) Hailey.

John graduated from Amherst County High School in Virginia. He was a self-employed mechanic and had formerly worked at PPG Industries, Family Ford and the former John Walter Excavating Co.

He is survived by one daughter, Adessa R. Miller (and her husband, Chris) of Camp Hill, one son, Michael L. Hailey of Carlisle, one sister, Judith L. Hailey of Enola, two grandchildren; Landon and Madison, two nephews; Walter and Victor and one niece, Erinn. John was preceded in death by one brother, Mark C. Hailey and one nephew, Jody Watson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 6 - 8:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Words cannot express my feelings of sadness and sorrow when I heard of the loss of my dear friend Michael. Hailey was a man that found humor in any given situation. He will indeed be sadly missed, especially by me.

Michael was a kindhearted man. Kind to people and animals. He always helped anyone in need. He loaned tools, time and energy to help a good cause. Mike also had a great love of music. I was always amazed at how many lives he touched. He was well known and loved! I will miss my dear friend. RIP MIke
