Marie T. Ruhl, 95, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Tuesday, May 29, 1917, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Harry R. and Minnie (Sheaffer) Thompson and was the widow of Kent M. Ruhl, who died June 19, 2006.

Marie was a 1934 graduate of Carlisle High School. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Carlisle for 85 years. Marie was also a member of the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Marie was a loving homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie R. Young of Carlisle, one son, Robert K. Ruhl and his wife, Ann of Allentown, two grandchildren; Stephanie Fillman and her husband, Bruce and Lora Sisock and her husband, Jason, two great-grandchildren; Sophia Marie Fillman and Kent Fillman and one niece. Marie was preceded in death by one sister, Fayne T. Yeingst.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jim VanZandt officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
