

Lee W. Mentzer, 83, of Carlisle, died Thursday,
July 12, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Carlisle. He was born Thursday, August 30, 1928, in Carlisle, a son of the
late Charles W. and Velva (Shughart) Mentzer and was married to the late Betty M. Mentzer, who died Nov. 16, 1993. Lee was an automobile mechanic most of his life
and retired in 2000 after owning and operating L. W. Mentzer’s Auto Service in Carlisle for many years. Lee also co-owned
along with his daughter, Wanda, L. & W. Mentzer Auto Sales, Carlisle. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Lee
was a former member of the LeTort United Methodist Church, Carlisle. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 1299 and the White Circle
Club, both of Carlisle. Lee enjoyed riding his Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He is survived by three daughters; Wanda L. (and her husband, Palmer) Darr of
Carlisle, Vickie A. Line of Newville and Tam J. (and her husband, J. R.) Richardson of Ormond Beach, FL, one brother, Charles
L. Mentzer of Mechanicsburg, two sisters; Doris Massey of Carlisle and Joyce Davis of Mechanicsburg, his former wife, Miriam
J. (Emlet) Mentzer of Carlisle, nine grandchildren; Amy and Leon Ewing, Cody Darr, Jeff Feuchtenberger, Dakota Line, A. J.,
Colton and Bradley Barnhart and Jeremy Rohrer, five step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Layton and one son-in-law, Todd Line. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing
Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland
County Honor Guard will be in LeTort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of services.
