Madlyn Grace (Dean) Orlousky, 88, of Carlisle, died peacefully at Thornwald Home on Saturday, April 28th. She was born in Elmira, NY and was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Ellen (Quinn) Dean.

Madlyn graduated from the Elmira Free Academy. She met her late husband, John F. Orlousky, while working together at the top secret New York facility that produced the Norden Bombsight during World War II. They married in 1947, moved to Carlisle in 1950 where they raised nine children and enjoyed 50 blessed years together until John’s death in 1997. She enjoyed large family gatherings, especially around the holidays. She helped to form the Carlisle chapter of Birthright. Madlyn was a devout Catholic and served on the Saint Patrick Parish Council. Her devotion to faith and family were unwavering.

She is survived by five sons; John (Linda) of Dauphin, Thomas (Marty) of Boiling Springs, Mark (Kathy) of Aspers, Patrick (Brenda) of Gardners, Matthew (Traci ) El Dorado Hills, CA., three daughters; Margaret Ramer of Ephrata, Elaine (John) Leinheiser of Carlisle, Theresa (David) Riskis of Boiling Springs, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Madlyn welcomed her most recent great-grandchild into the family on Easter Sunday, Symone Madlyn Davis. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen and Madlyn’s three brothers and four sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Patrick Shrine Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. We were so saddened to hear this news. Please accept our sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers that God will give you the peace and comfort you need at this time.

The Peters Family

I wish to send a message of sincere condolence from Joby, Malieka, Michael, and Jesse to your family with the passing of your mother. She looks so sweet to have such a curious "Secret Agent" type past. Although I never met her, just reading about her reminds me of my own mother, who was the true core foundation of the family. Our prayers are with you and Marty... and all your brothers.

Denny and Joby Ruth

Your message of condolence will appear here.
