


Emery L. Roe, 90, of Carlisle, died suddenly
on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Wednesday, August 10, 1921, in North Beuna
Vista, Iowa, a son of the late Emery J. Roe and Sylvia (Noggle) White. Emery was a 1939 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque, Iowa and
served in the US Army during WWII. He retired as Vice-President of Production with the Flexsteel Furniture Co. after 45 years
of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. Emery was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Lancaster
and was currently a member of the Carlisle Elks. He held a private pilot’s license, was an avid golfer, played softball
for many years and enjoyed all sporting activities from playing tennis to riding snowmobiles. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Kathleen (Hunt) Roe,
three daughters; Sharon R. Barth and Sandra R. Emerick, both of Lancaster and Janice S. Mazock (and husband, Michael) of Newport,
four grandchildren; Christine and Victoria Emerick and Ken and Clinton Putt, two great-grandchildren; Joshua and Madison Putt
and three nieces. Private graveside
services will be held in the Meeting House Springs Cemetery, Carlisle, with Rev. Jon Black officiating. Ewing Brothers Funeral
Home, Carlisle, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund at
Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
