Ruth R. "Ruthie" Markel, 83, of Carlisle,
died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at home. She was born January 19, 1928, in Adams County, a daughter of the late James E. and
Lenora E. (Buckmeyer) Johnson. Ruth was a retired employee of the former J. C. Wentzel’s & Sons and had also worked for the former
Sprint Co., Kinney Shoe and the old Carlisle Hospital Snack Bar, all of Carlisle. She was a hardworking, dedicated, loving
mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed and forever loved. She is survived by one sister, Emma Jane Shields of Carlisle, three daughters; Carolyn L.
(and her husband, James) Olsen and Mary E. Shughart, both of Carlisle and Lois A. (and her husband, Joseph) Greco of Shermansdale,
10 grandchildren; Ruth Ellen, Lloyd, James, Arleta, Harry, Jimmy, Stanley, Barbara, Stacey and Tiffany, 9 great-grandchildren,
2 great-great grandchildren, with two on the way and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters; Ida
Mae and Anna and two brothers; Russell and Francis. In honoring Ruth’s wishes there will no viewing or funeral. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, assisted
the family with the arrangements.

Aunt Ruthie you will be greatly missed by everyone that knew you. I will always remember all the sundays
