Delores Jean Bailey, 74, of Carlisle and formerly of Newville, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at her home. She was born Tuesday, April 6, 1937, in Cumberland county, a daughter of the late Russell R. and Dorothy (Mowery) Yocum, and was the widow of James F. "Dusty Jim" Bailey, who died March 18, 2007.

Delores retired from Green Ridge Village in Newville after 22 years of service in the dietary department. She also worked part-time at the Doubling Gap Church Camp. Delores was a member of Green Spring First Church of God, Newville, where she played the piano with the Ministry in Music.

She is survived by four daughters; Alecia Bagrosky of Mt. Holly Springs, Mindy Deatrick of Ickesburg and Kimberly Paulus and Gwendolyn Barrick, both of Newville, one brother, Robert Yocum of Newville, two sisters; Evelyn Holtrey of Orrstown and Helen Highlands of Newville, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Hoch.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Green Spring First Church of God, 1140 Green Spring Rd., Newville, with Pastor Phil Steele officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be on Monday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle and on Tuesday from 12 noon until time of services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of Jean. She was a nice lady and a great neighbor. She and Dusty were very good to me when I was growing up and I was grateful to have them nearby. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
